Manihiki is an island in the Cook Islands known also as the Island of Pearls. It is a triangular atoll 1,160 kilometers north of Rarotonga. Like its sister island of Rakahanga 44 kms north, Manihiki sits on top of an underwater mountain which rises 4,000 meters from the ocean floor.
